As our Senior Designer you will be part of the Brand team to help bring our brand to life through impactful storytelling through digital and print design. You will help to drive awareness to the 12 million people living with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus in the UK. You will deliver high-impact content for the charity ensuring that all design work meets our brand guidelines and are creative in testing the boundaries

This is a really exciting time to join our charity as were changing at incredible speed as we begin to reshape our charitys strategy and the brand itself. As such, there will be lots of opportunity in the coming months to contribute to and change the brand visually and how our brand tells the stories of those living with hearing loss or deafness. Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Role:

As a Senior Designer you will turn content into high impact assets through print and digital design to tell the stories of those living with hearing loss or deafness. You will work closely across all major departments throughout the UK such as brand (your team), fundraising, communications, policy and campaigns and local engagement, for example.

The work that you will help to create will directly support those living with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus through vital access to services, campaigning and research.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on key design projects, designing standout print and digital content against client brief and goals
  • Support the Brand Manager in ensuring a strong visual identity, which considers the needs of those living with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus (and brings the brand to life)
  • Deliver high quality content efficiently and thoroughly and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ensuring all final artwork is reviewed by yourself and the Brand Manager where external designers/ agencies are used and the final product suitable for the relevant audience  
  • Ensure that all assets produced have accessibility in mind and brand identity
  • Keeping abreast of new design/tech principles and sharing them with the brand team for adoption
  • Creating reactive creative content quickly but to a high standard, ensuring it meets organisational brand identity and values
  • Creative hands on design, digital skills and confident with social media marketing tools.

Person specification:

  Essential Desirable
Experience
  • Extensive’ experience of working within an agency or in-house role
  • In-depth knowledge of working in multi-disciplinary graphic design role is essential as is recent experience of working with animations for social media.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all level
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work collaboratively across the organisation
  • Working within a charity and understand fundraising sector
Qualifications / Professional Training
  • A degree or equivalent design qualification
  • Any additional training is advantageous and viewed strongly
Skills / Knowledge
  • Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to work creatively within brand guidelines
  • Experience working on marketing/fundraising campaigns
  • A good eye for detail
  • Strong typographic design and layout skills
  • Ability to manage and organise own workload and working with line manager to understand capacity
  •  
  • How to develop a design concept from start to finish that will meet the requirements of the client
  • Ability to create visually interesting and creative moving graphics (eg. animations for social media).
  • Practical understanding of UX and UI principles and of responsive website and email design
  • Understanding of the print and production techniques and ways of working
  • Experience designing annual reports

  • Image manipulation and retouching
  • Knowledge of accessibility
  • Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of CMS (WordPress)
